Part B : first story board and some sketches

This is my first storyboard and I aim to make an animation least than a minute which show the character more his feeling and expressions. Though the animation, it will have the voice over of Werther last letter Lotte to show the story more. I have also done some drawings of how the room will be like and the character design.

Part B : Artist references

From the beginning of the animation I start it with Werther in his dream/ vision that he is chasing after the shadow of the woman he loves though the mirrors in the dark. I have this idea because it would able to show the inner expressions and his desire to be with her but at the end she marry someone else which broke his heart to suicide. It is the imagination in his head so I think of the surrealist style of the narrative. In the first scene it will be in the dark and many mirrors appear in the midst and the shadow of this women moving though the mirror that Werther is chasing after that.
This makes me think of ''Un Chien Andalou" which made by Dali and there is a scene where a lots of eye .

I also look at Rene Magritte's painting which inspired me the reflection from the mirror and the space of compositions.

Lastly, Joe Webb who is a collage artist, he has made a collection of the couple collage which is really similar to how I would like to present the shadow.

Character inspiration

In terms of how to approach the character design , I am thinking to facial design of Werther in a simply way as he is young but will have more details on his clothing and accessories. The film Little prince inspired me to the style i can go forward and but with the etching stokes style as the texture.

Adaptation Part B : More Researches

This is my classical portrait of young German faces and their clothing in that period of time. They all got a pale skin colour and pointy nose .

This is the clothing style they worn in that time , for the design of the colour i am thinking to use navy blue with golden yellow which it has been mentioned in the book. And with some accessories to go with him like stick , hat and pocket sleeve.
This is the interior of that age. I am trying not to find the references images that is too noble and gorgeous because Wrether is born in a middle class family which is nice but not over decorating.
